Whats wrong with ReSharper 2.5?

Anybody else had problems with ReSharper 2.5 crashing the Visual Studio 2005 IDE on Windows XP SP2? I have had one VS crash in the last 4 months using ReSharper 2 (latest builds), updated to ReSharper 2.5 today and had 6 VS crashes in the last 4 hours - all of them while typing comments on methods! (That will teach me for writing comments...)

Any suggestions for how to 'debugger' ReSharper 2.5? In the meantime I'm going back to the previous version.

Does VS show the suggestion to send the error report or debug it?
Or it silently disappers?

On my machine it pings the CPU at 100%.

I went back to build 324 and things stablized.

Shows the option to send the error report to Microsoft. Then Visual Studio restarts and opens the solution back up - sometimes letting me recover work, sometimes not.

I have uninstalled all other plugins from VS 2005 thinking there might be some conflict. Will see how it goes.

Dave

Just to clarify what is displayed, see attached image. There is nothing useful that I can find in the dump (I'm sure there is - I just can't find it).

Cheers,
Dave

I upgraded to 2.5 yesterday and while I haven't had any crashes, I am having some very odd behavior...I can't use the keyboard anymore!

Actually, I can use all of the letters and numbers (above the keys, not the number pad)...but the arrows, shift, ctrl, etc. don't do anything.

When this happened, I figured it was a glitch with opening VS for the first time after upgrading so I closed and reopend my solution. At that point, I couldn't use any keys and I couldn't even use the mouse to move the insertion point!

I disabled Resharper and everything works fine again.

Some of the things I have tried:

- Removed all other Visual Studio Add-ins by uninstalling them. Crashes.
- Uninstall and then re-install ReSharper 2.5. Crashes.
- Uinstall ReSharper 2.5 and use Visual Studio without it installed. Doesn't crash.
- Install ReSharper 2.01and use Visual Studio without it installed. Doesn't crash.
- Install ReSharper 2.5. Crashes.
- Uninstall and re-install Visual Studio 2005 and ReInstall ReSharper. Crashes.

I like ReSharper and will continue to use the 2.01 version, but this latest version is a piece of junk.

Hello DrDevoid,

how exactly did VS crash? Did you get any exceptions from ReSharper or the
MS Error Dialog? Thanks.
