Pause when entering quotes.

I recently acquired a new development system at work. I installed Visual Studio 2008 and R# 4.0 and have noticed something odd. I'm not sure if it is R# doing it or Visual Studio, nor can I find where to turn it off.

When I'm editing code, I will type something like:

private string foo = "";

When I enter the first ("), it does not appear until I type another character, whereupon both quotes appear, with the character I typed between them. After typing the first character, I see a message on the status line at the bottom. Depending on what I'm doing, it says either "Initializer Expected" or "Expression Expected"

On my old system (which I still have until I finish transferring data) it does not happen. I have had that system for quite a while now, and has R# 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 on it. It never exhibited the problem behavior.

Anyone have any ideas? I've done searches through Google and tried to find it on the VS and R# options menus, but no luck.

Thanks much!

Morgan
