How to control xml highlighting feature?

In an xml file like app.config, I am unable to control the highlight on matching angle brackets. (I also seem to be having the highlighting be unstable (on or off), but that is another issue.)

1. where is the hightlight color (background & foreground) set for matching angle brackets in xml?

2. how do you turn off matching angle bracket highlighting?

I can't find the settings for these, and don't know if these features are controlled in resharper or vs2010.

Hello Paul
There's no separate option for xml at the moment: you can turn the highlighting on or off for all languages using the 'Highlight matching delimiters' option under ReSharper | Options | Editor and control the color using 'ReSharper Matched Brace' item under Tools | Options | Environment | Fonts and Colors. Thank you!

'Highlight matching delimiters when caret is..' is unchecked, and has been always unchecked, and has no effect on stopping the highlighting.

'ReSharper Matched Brace' is set to white forground/black background, which also should stop the effect, but this also is not working. (I use black background scheme). The actual color that comes up is white/light blue which makes the text unreadable.

I can't tell you how important the basic editor color functions are. You can have thousands of incredible advanced features, but if the editing colors are broken and unstable it doesn't matter.

Hello Paul
This seems to be a bug, so I've logged it under http://youtrack.jetbrains.net/issue/RSRP-287566. However, setting the colors accordingly with a black scheme does help to avoid highlighting for me. Could you please export your color settings in Visual Studio and attach that settings file here? Thank you!

Settings attached. Sometimes most of the colors seem to work. But when I first open a project in vs2010 the colors are not setup correctly. I have to go into option/font and colors, tweak any color and save. This seems to reset the settings and correct colors show up. This is repeatable. The highlighting of delimiters might also be reset this way.

I set the resharper colors by editing the settings xml directly, to white on black for every entry. Then I have changed a few colors one by one, so I can see what they control. I don't know what most of the settings are supposed to do, and setting them one at a time I can get an idea. The class identifer color is one that is always wrong when I bring up visual studio, and I have to reset it using the above workaround. Quoted urls in xml are always coming up dark blue, but eventually they seem to reset to lime (preferred) after a while. It is very annoying.

The Highlight matching delimters doesn't seem to work either when checked or not. If delimters are not being highlighted, checking this has no effect.

This what I received from jetbrains regarding my bug report on unstable colors:

"We're aware of this behavior, however it's a Visual Studio issue - it's not letting us to apply new colors on the fly without reopenings.
We've already contacted Microsoft about it."

Contacting Microsoft will do nothing. I've used visual studio for over 15 years and they have never put out a bug fix. Yes, they might have a service pack occasionally, but usually they drop the problem version and sell you a new one with a new set of bugs that never get fixed.

Are you aware of an older resharper version that will work better with the color problem?

Just a suggestion, but you might try changing Highlight with from color to
outline until the bug gets fixed. This causes ReSharper to draw a small line
around the block and I think it's much less intrusive than the highlight
color. Of course, this is just personal taste.
